Ji Ryang Chae, Jasmine Dakota Beverly, and Earnest Akindele Teamer were arrested in early November 2023 on one count of conspiracy and two counts of sex trafficking a minor. If they are each convicted for all the charges, they will face a statutory maximum sentence of life in federal prison.
Sex Trafficking in San Bernadino
According to the indictment, defendants Beverly and Teamer supposedly recruited minor girls to work as commercial sex workers at the Ace Care Massage Parlor in Redlands between March and April 2022. Additionally, Beverly would transport two of the victims, a 15-year-old and a 14-year-old girl, to and from the massage parlor.
When the 15-year-old saw a customer, Beverly would collect $10 from her, while Teamer supposedly took $200 weekly from each victim. Then, as the massage parlor manager, Chae would require the victims to pay “rent” in exchange for condoms, cleaning supplies, and a place to work. Apparently, she took about $2,000 a month in “rent” from the 15-year-old victim alone.
The indictment also alleges that Teamer acted as the “pimp” for the 14-year-old victim and took some or all her earnings. He has also been charged in a separate indictment with one count of transportation of a minor with the intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, one count of production of child pornography (which involved a video of himself engaging in sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl), one count of distribution of child pornography, and two counts of receipt of child pornography.
As such, Teamer is also facing a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in federal prison. However, Chae and Beverly, as the manager and manager-in-training of the massage parlor, are facing an additional mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in federal prison. This means they are all facing somewhere between 10 years and life in prison if convicted later this year.
