In July 2023, 10 members of the San Gabriel gang, the Quiet Village, were indicted in a series of federal grand jury indictments for a wide range of criminal conduct, including one fatal shooting and two murders the year before. Each of the defendants is facing considerable prison time if they are convicted.
Quiet Village Gang Is Not So Quiet
The Quiet Village gang has been known to terrorize the San Gabriel community for several years. Four of the ten members indicted were already in custody, two were arrested, and another four are on the run. While each member's charges differ, the main indictment alleges a conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, violent crimes in aid of racketeering, and firearms and narcotics offenses.
The other three indictments allege that the defendants participated in trafficking and firearms violations. In addition, there have been charges of attempted murder, targeting of an informant that resulted in the death of a bystander, illegal gambling, and narcotics distribution.
How a Skilled Attorney Can Help
There are several defenses to the crimes the individuals indicted in these cases have at their disposal. A skilled attorney will not only show up to defend you but help you be aware of these defenses, explain how they are going to be used, and gather evidence and witness testimony to support them. For instance, in RICO cases, the most common defenses are mistaken identity, no pattern of racketeering activity, and no criminal organization is detected. In a case like this, their defense attorney would present the best defense with the information available, guaranteeing you the best possible outcome for your case.
